A wild swing for the fences is derailed by a crippling lack of lead chemistry, but even more so, bizarre editing choices. It feels like there was once a story here, but the edit chooses to withhold enough information to make this movie straight-up perplexing for a lot of its runtime. The lack of payoff seems almost unintentional at times up until the very end; but by then, I’m so checked out that the bubble has long been bursted under the stress test. A few moments shine (some brilliant cheating scenes, especially), but everything in between is tripping over itself to get to its resolution.
